Luego de años de lucha, unas decenas de familias más de las cientos que habían perdido todas sus pertenencias en el incendio de la villa de emergencia conocida como Villa Cartón, recibieron sus viviendas.
Después de años de promesas, de vivir en condiciones infrahumanas en el deplorable «Centro de Evacuados» de la ciudad (del cual también tuvieron que ser evacuados!), la persistencia en la dignidad y la organización, les abrió el camino que los hizo llegar de nuevo a su hogar.
Hemos estado orgullosamente acompañando a estas familias de trabajadores y trabajadoras en la defensa de sus derechos, sorteando dificultades y engorrosos procesos judiciales, para compartir hoy, con todos ellos, la enorme felicidad que significa llegar a casa.
No obstante no debemos dejar de considerar, que faltan aún cientos de miles de personas más que no tienen acceso a una vivienda, por más que sea un derecho de raigambre constitucional y uno de los tantos que quedan a mitad de camino, porque no están dadas las condiciones para su pleno ejercicio por parte de quienes son sus destinatarios.
Es una responsabilidad del Estado garantizar la accesibilidad a la vivienda, interviniendo activamente para obtener la tan mentada igualdad de oportunidades como punto de partida para hacer efectivo éste, y cualquier otro derecho que se trate.
Es fundamental abordar la problemática del hábitat con seriedad, y no sólo en relación a los sectores más vulnerables, sino con una perspectiva integral e integradora. Sobre todo en esta ciudad de Buenos Aires, que cuenta con recursos suficientes, no hay excusas para no dar respuestas a las diversas realidades que conviven en ella. Es posible, y ello sin necesidad de tener que pasar por todas las dramáticas circunstancias que tuvieron que afrontar estas familias, que finalmente hoy dormirán en su hogar, bajo techo, como corresponde.
